{Deborah of Holy Camp is one lucky SonShine}
Just last week, I was asking the Lord to show me that one thing He had planted in me as a passion fashioned for His Kingdom.  The reply was sweet and succinct and straight to my heart.

The one thing I'm most passionate about, and Supernaturally so, is encouraging women to study and live by the Word of God.  Every woman {every person, for that matter} needs to know that they can understand Scripture and that the Bible is alive and active in us!

Sharing these seven days studies with you SonShines is a joy to my heart and a workout for my flesh!  God is calling me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and that's a beautiful thing!

Lamentations was anything but a comfortable read and its lessons surely unearthed some hidden woes that begged to be brought before the Lord.  Each woman studying along felt the squeeze of the loving arms of Christ as He helped to break us free of our sin-induced suffering.  Sometimes the sin isn't our own, other times we can't skirt the blame for our pain.

Every time we give our hearts, minds, souls, bodies, schedules, plans, hopes, fears--our everything--to our heavenly Father, He is faithful to His Word!  Don't you just know we've got to taste and see for ourselves that the Lord is good?  That's one beautiful reason to study Scripture!  Amen?

Thank you all for participating in this quick study of Lamentations, I hope to spend another seven days with you soon!

Until then...
let the Son shine

God has done some awesome stuff in the span of seven days.  He made the world and even found time to rest.  All in a week's time.  What could the Lord do with your week?  Seven days.  You've got that kind of time.  It's lying around the house, it's sitting in the pick up line with you at your kids' school, it's waiting next to the DVR/tivo majig.
It's there and our faithful Father can use it to work wonders in, on, and through you, SonShines!

We'll spend a week in various areas that cry out for growth or simply, splendidly soaking up the Living Water through studying His Word a book, a chapter, a verse at a time.  We'll make it a SonShine thing.  Though the frequency may remain quite random, the goal will be the same.

Seven days learning, encouraging, studying to shine!

Our next adventure in the Son begins Monday!  We'll be spending a week in Lamentations and the time is sure to be worthwhile!  In the meantime, if you plan to join in, I'd love to hear from you.

Drop a comment with a suggestion for how you'd like to spend seven days with me and our fellow SonShines and you'll be entered to win a secret little something which I will tell you more about soon!

It's going to be a double post sort of day, I can feel it!  Be warned.

First, I need to say a huge thank you to everyone that commented over the weekend.  Thanks so much, SonShines, you've encouraged me so much...inspiration was in full bloom the past few days after reading from you all.  Using the fuel from your positive feedback and the direction from your suggestions, I've made a few changes to the site.

Now, each page listed in the menu up top reveals a bit about itself when hovered over.  The section headings on all of the pages can also be hovered over for more information.  Adding this feature has allowed for me to remove the text-based site-map that cluttered the homepage.  I've repurposed that section to be a place where I share Scripture that has been teaching or encouraging me as of late.  Other updates to the homepage include rearranging here or there and a new Word picture for you to grab and share any way you'd like!  I'd love for you to take a look around and let me know if you find it any easier to navigate.

I want you to feel that you've gotten your time's worth with each visit!

Our first Caffeinated Randomness Giveaway winner is Lois Lane II of Fearfully, Wonderfully Made!  Thanks to all of you...and keep commenting for your chance to win that gorgeous necklace from our gracious sponsor, Christy Klein and her Wired Whimsy!

Caffeinated Randomness: A Special Giveaway! 08/14/2009

It doesn't get much more random than posting randomness when you should be doing just about anything else.  I should be writing the third installment in the series telling you all about why I've so been Digging Deeper Still, even weeks since it ended.
I could be folding that load of laundry sitting in my dryer...still...days past its crispness.  We won't talk about the working out I should be doing, or the nasty kitchen appliances begging and pleading for a good scrub.  I SAID WE WON'T TALK ABOUT THOSE THINGS.

Instead of addressing any combination of the incomplete tasks screaming for my attention, I shall seek the counsel of you, oh wise SonShines.

Please take a second to share your thoughts with me; you will be helping me to build a better ministry, and I might just have to reward you for your efforts.  Okay, you twisted my arm...

Comment with any suggestions, features you'd like to see on the site, or perhaps some you'd prefer were wiped off the face of the blogging world.  As a thank you for helping to improve the flow of God's light through this place, each SonShine who lends a helping hand through commenting as described will be entered in an exclusive giveaway!  Oh, and your comments count as entries in this month's Godly Giveaway, as well!

Of course, you can always leave an anonymous suggestion, but I can't exactly give a prize to a mystery person.  So, be sure to include your name and email in that comment form for your chance to win a life-sized cardboard cut-out of yours truly!
I'll even autograph the sucker!

Okay, so I'm not serious, but I am seriously cracking myself up, here.  The item up for grabs is actually a $25 gift certificate from Christianbook.com!  Oh s-n-a-p.

Thanks, in advance, for taking the time to comment with ways to help this sister out!  I'll be taking suggestions over the weekend and announcing the winner on Monday....see you then!

***UPDATE***
I love all the encouraging comments, you ladies rock!  I suppose encouragement is guidance too, so any comment will be entered in the giveaway.  I just appreciate you all too much to leave you out for liking things as they are...it's not your fault I'm so awesome.

In case anyone feels a bit apprehensive about posting their suggestions, I'll break the ice by throwing out one of the concerns I've had regarding the design.

I love catchy little puntastic names, so I have one for just about everything under the Son.  (see, I just went puntastic on you...it's a gift and a curse)  I've been wondering whether my page names and section titles make things less than easy to navigate around here.  So, if you want to include your thoughts on the name game I play at the site, please do!

Can I just tell you, I am beside myself with excitement over our sponsor for August.  I mean, it's not every day that you get to announce a dear friend's joyous step into business.

Christy Klein's designs are bringing each Wired Whimsy to fruition and she is sharing with us!  As she puts it, she is adorning you and your home in fabulousness, one Wired Whimsy at a time!  Love it--love her--love this piece of awesome that she's created just for the Godly Giveaway!

Christy is a homeschooling mother, a writer with a flair for the humorously dramatic, wife to one perfect fit of a guy...you know what, I could gush all day in effort to tell you all about her.  Instead, I'll let this minterview (mini interview, because I do so love a made up word) do it for me.

Q:  It is simply too hard to pick a favorite passage, but we all have changing verses that hold a special place. What Scripture has your heart at the moment?
Every passage in the Bible is worthy of our meditation. The Lord has used many different passages of scripture to strengthen me in difficult times, but there is one passage that took hold of my heart when I was a baby Christian and has not let go since... Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:  Isaiah 26: 3-4 KJV

Q:  Perhaps there's a spot you love, a book you reach for, a prayer you start with...What is your favorite way to spend time with the Lord?
My favorite place to spend time in prayer is on the swing in our backyard. I'm not talking about a lovely porch swing either - I'm talking about my kid's swing set. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I've always loved to swing and apparently will never grow out of that. So, as I swing back and forth I close my eyes and spend time in fellowship with my Father. The rest of the world seems to melt away.

Q:  What is your personal favorite piece you have created so far?
My favorite piece thus far would have to be the Fly Away earrings. I am a nut for birds so those earrings grab my heart every time I look at them.

Q:  When it comes to designing and creating, what are your "must haves" to get the creative juices flowing and keep things running smoothly?
My creative process takes shape in two different ways: I'll spread everything I have out on my desk and just sit there and take different beads into my hands and ponder them. I try to visualize their potential and the best way to display their beauty. Then I just create. But most of the time my inspiration comes as I'm falling asleep. It's extremely annoying and inconvenient.... lol.

Q:  Being new to the whole etsy shop thing, what would you want to share with other women who might be considering opening a shop?
Opening an Etsy shop can seem daunting at first, and let's face it, the competition is overwhelming. One begins to wonder what they could possibly offer that is not already available. Self-doubt takes hold and discouragement quickly follows. My advice is to forbid yourself to become paralyzed by doubt or fear of failure. Sure your items might be similar to others out there, but every one of us has our own personal style and giftedness. When you create from the heart your work will shine with YOUR style and flare. There IS a place for you on Etsy.

Thank you so much, Christy!  I'm praying for your business and for your schedule to allow for much creativity and time for designing each Wired Whimsy!

I am so excited and grateful that Leigh Gray of Speaking Thru Me Ministries has agreed to give one of you lovely little SonShines an advance copy of her encouraging new book!  Loving God, Loving People:  Living Out the Vertical in a Horizontal World isn't just a must read for any woman struggling to get a Godly view ofour worldly interactions; it is a must apply kind of book.  With discussion questions and easy girlfriend readability, this would make a great group study.  Leigh uses that same convicting, yet uplifting, style as she blogs and vlogs from day to day over at her Speaking Thru Me blog.

I love how each unique vessel is used for the same great purpose in our Father's hands.  It is so fun to see the differing answers and be reminded of God's creativeness,
so I've asked Leigh some of the same questions I've asked our other generous sponsors.  After reading a bit about Leigh, head over to her sites for more goodness!

Q: It is simply too hard to pick a favorite passage, but we all have changing verses that hold a special place. What Scripture has your heart at the moment?

Ps. 62:8 This verse reminds me that I am to trust in Him at all times.  I am free to pour out my heart to him about anything and that even though I may be at fault or maybe not - I am free to run to Him, my great refuge!!!

Q: Perhaps there's a spot you love, a book you reach for, a prayer you start with...What is your favorite way to spend time with the Lord?

I love to sing worship in the shower - I sound really good in there so I have told myself.  ha  But seriously I love to  start my prayer time out with myself on the floor just laying it all out before Him - physically and spiritually.  One of my favorite books is Barbaric Way by Edwin McManus.  That book encourages me to do things that may not be the norm - to take a chance and really be lead by the Spirit instead of by fear!

Q: What was your original vision for your business? Has that vision changed any with time?
I was just gonna be a speaker by myself and just do ministry that way.  But over time God melted my heart and vision for ministry with Ginger Moore's.  We desired to serve Him, but honestly could both be influenced and energized by money .  So the Lord took that out of our equation of ministry.  It is Barbaric and very different from the norm.  So we are a fee-free speaking team.  I think the world of ministry has somewhat lost its way of servant-hood and this is one way we believe the Lord has convicted us and demanded our obedience.  He is ever faithful and encouraging that we are following His plan.

Q: How has ministering to the world in this fashion ministered to you?

God never fails to meet our needs.  Very seldom does a church leave you empty handed and it just amazes me how those gifts line up with a need either currently there or one that is coming!  We want to serve the church and the Christian community as a whole.  God gives us ample ways to do this and it just blesses our socks off incredibly!

With my computer being upgraded to stash my evergrowing boat load of photos, I am forced to resort to this horrid beast.  I won't gripe any further, but sufficed to say, hmmm...I won't be my usual computer fiendish self this week.  I will, however announce the winner of June's Godly Giveaway even if from this monstrosity.  (Oh sanp, no spell check.)  Any comments will be counted as entries in July's giveaway, but I won't be posting the awesomeness up for grabs until the computer sitch is under wraps.  Sorry to keep you all in suspense...but believe me, it is worth the wait!

So, enough of my moaning and groaning, let's congratulate Amy of Filled with Praise for winning Carrie's awesome Scripture pendant!  You can now read from Carrie and stay up to day on her latest etsy creations at her new blog, BlessedBe's!

Thanks to everyone for commenting and encouraging me and all the little SonShines reading.  You each have a special place in my heart and in my walk with God!

Enjoy the day, and let the Son shine!

I can't wait another moment to share June's Godly Giveaway with you all!  Well, I suppose I can hold off just long enough to announce May's luckly little SonShine!  Congratulations, Christy of Falling Around All Apart Me, you have won one beautiful pendant!  Nathifa (the awesome artist and gracious giveaway sponsor) will contact you for your address soon, enjoy sharing God's goodness through jewelry...always a fun way to shine His light!

Up for grabs this month, is another special treat!  Carrie Mayer, at BlessedBe's Christian Gifts has offered to giveaway a personalized pendant with the Scripture of your choice inscribed!  Got a power verse you'd love to dangle around your neck, Carrie is just the artist for you!

Q:  So, Carrie, tell us a bit about yourself.
I am wife to the best husband in the world (he really is!) and mother to 2 awesome boys (age7 and age4).I live in a small town in northern Kentucky on the Ohio River, fortunate to be surrounded by family.  Several years ago, my husband and I started attending church for our boys...we wanted them to grow up with knowledge of Christ.  We were both raised in church, but didn't really attend out of laziness.  So...back to church we went.  It didn't take long for us to realize that we had been missing out by not having Christ be the focal point of our life.  Fast forward 2 years and you find us totally transformed.  I was baptized this past December and have been living for the Lord ever since.

Q: It is simply too hard to pick a favorite passage, but we all have changing verses that hold a special place. What Scripture has your heart at the moment?
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

Q: Perhaps there's a spot you love, a book you reach for, a prayer you start with...What is your favorite way to spend time with the Lord?
I like to start the day off with prayer and Bible study.  If I'm at home, I find a quiet corner.  On work days, I'll pray on my way to work...it's awesome praying aloud as I watch the sun rise!

Q: What is your personal favorite piece you have for sale or have already sold?

I guess I'm a little bit rock-n-roll, so I'm partial to the leather cuffs with the ichthys pendants.

Q: What was your original vision for your business? Has that vision changed any with time?

I have trouble seeing it as a business, so I really didn't start with any expectations, but response has been great.  I've come into contact with so many fantastic people because of my pieces.  It's awesome to spread the Word!

Q: How has ministering to the world in this fashion ministered to you?

How lucky am I!?  I get to share 2 of my loves with the world, Jesus and crafts!  I am so proud to see my pieces on friends and family members...not because I made a piece of jewelry, but because I've given them the chance to share their faith.  I can't tell you how many strangers have asked about a certain piece that I am wearing.  It really opens the door to witnessing, to share what Jesus has done for me.

So, now you know a bit about Carrie and her work, so comment daily to enter all month, and go shop around her site!  Thank you so much, Carrie!

How awesomely random for this Friday to fall on the first of the month!  I get to use this excuse to announce April's winner and introduce you to the Godly Giveaway's sponsor for May!  After you read all about the winner and the awesome new gift, hop over to Exemplify!  Today, I'm talking about spiritual Spring cleaning!

Congratulations, Andrea from Under Grace and Over Coffee!  Enjoy the books and the time with your man and your God during your read!

Now on to that introduction!  I've asked this talented sister in Christ to share a bit of herself and her art with you all today!  Enough of me telling you about her, I'll give it away to Nathifa now!

My Name is Nathifa (na-tee-fa) Davis-Sligh.  I am a self-taught artist originally from the west coast of Africa (Liberia) but have been living in the U.S. for about 18 years.  I currently reside in Michigan.  I really love God, His Word, and the journey He is currently taking me on.  I am married to my fantastic husband, Chris, who is simply an amazing man of God.  It is my hope that through my work, God’s true self is revealed to those who encounter it and will simply want to get to know Him better.

Q:  It is simply too hard to pick a favorite passage, but we all have changing verses that hold a special place.  What Scripture has your heart at the moment?

Actually, I have been meditating on a few...but as I am trying to grow my business, Romans 12:1-2 has been my focus.  It is actually the mission/vision for Juicy Christians.  I truly believe that Christians have a choice to either participate in the world’s lifestyle or we can create our own according to what the Bible teaches us.  Ephesians 3:20 has also held a very special place in my heart in the last few years.  I could give testimonies about how this scripture has affected my life but that could take a while.

Q:  Perhaps there’s a spot you love, a book you reach for, a prayer you start with...What is your favorite way to spend time with the Lord?

I get distracted really easily as I am trying to read the Bible.  I could read a scripture and start thinking about what the scripture is talking about and before you know it, I am off thinking about something completely different!  It’s rather annoying to be honest.  After searching for a way to connect with the Lord for some time, I’ve found that writing is the best way for me.  Now, when I read, I write my thoughts, my prayers, and etc.  It is really fantastic, because I can go back and look at my conversations to see how I’ve grown or to see prayers that have been answered, and etc.  I have found that my bathroom has been the best place for these conversations to happen.

Q:  What is your personal favorite piece you have for sale or have already sold?

I really love all my pieces!  It is hard to part with them sometimes...but I would say my favorite piece is the love won pendant.  I think it says so much about God’s love for us.

Q:  What was your original vision for your business?   Has that vision changed any with time?

This is truly God’s business. Being a Juicy Christian is really about living a lifestyle where you are excited about and full of flavor for Christ. I got inspiration from God to create a jewelry line that focused on spreading the gospel and positivity.  Designs come from hearing the preached word or through my conversations with him... Right now, the focus is on the jewelry and accessories line, but there will be many more avenues to explore.  So keep visiting us to see what we’re up to! :o)

Q:  How has ministering to the world in this fashion ministered to you?

You know, it has really shown me that this is really not about me.  It is about others and helping them to start to see Christ in another way.  Hopefully, it helps them to get to know Christ or improve their relationship with Him.

Thank you so much, Nathifa, for your generosity and for giving us this opportunity to get to know you better!

Without further ado, here's the beautiful piece of Nathifa's work that is up for grabs during the month of May!
You can enter daily by commenting on a different post each day!
